HERE I SHOW A REALLY DANGEROUS DESIGN FAULT. THE
SALVADOR CAETANO WINDOW
BLIND SECURING FIXTURE.About two weeks after I took delivery of my brand new Salvador Caetano Toyota Optimo V the wind caught the driver's door and swung it shut while I was still grasping the handle to lift myself into the driver's seat. This caused a serious injury to my hand, cutting it open and almost breaking bones. My hand now carries a permanent scar from this injury. The photograph on the left shows my hand below the fixture. Now imagine my hand just an inch or two higher and you can wince with the thought of the damage the fixture caused.
I reported this to the supplier and to Toyota, yet when a competitor bought the same vehicle, over eighteen months later the securing fixture had not been relocated.
I
relocated mine as can be seen from the second photograph to prevent any
further injury. The white circle shows the drill hole where the original fixing
was located.
IT REALLY IS SURPRISING THAT THIS DANGEROUS DEFECT WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY ADDRESSED. PERHAPS RECENT PURCHASERS WILL ADVISE ME IF HAS YET BEEN CORRECTED SO THAT I CAN REPORT BACK HERE.
